Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist

Meet Dr. Breanna Barnes

As both a board-certified pediatric dentist and a mother who experienced firsthand the challenges of having a child with a tongue tie, Dr. Barnes brings a unique perspective to her practice.

Her personal journey through the difficulties of nursing a tied infant deeply influenced her commitment to helping other families facing similar challenges. This experience drove her to pursue advanced training in infant frenectomies and laser dentistry, ensuring she could provide the gentle, understanding care she wished for during her own experience.

Today, she combines her clinical expertise with genuine empathy, supporting parents through what can be an emotionally and physically challenging time.

Tethered Oral Tissues

What are Tongue & Lip Ties?

Tongue and lip ties are common oral conditions where tissue restricts the movement of the tongue or upper lip. These tethered oral tissues (TOTs) occur when the frenulum – the band of tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth or the lip to the gums – is too tight or thick, limiting normal function and potentially affecting feeding, speech, and oral development.

Gentle Tie Releases

The Solea CO2 Laser

Our Solea CO2 laser represents the latest technology in tie release procedures, offering precise treatment with minimal discomfort and optimal healing outcomes.

Minimally-Invasive

The Solea laser's precision allows for extremely accurate tissue removal with minimal impact on surrounding areas. This targeted approach means we can release ties effectively while preserving healthy tissue, resulting in less trauma to the mouth and a more comfortable experience for your child.

Quicker Procedure

Traditional tie releases can be lengthy and stressful for both parent and child. The Solea laser significantly reduces procedure time, typically completing the release in just a few minutes. This shorter duration means less anxiety for everyone involved and allows for immediate post-procedure feeding.

Less Bleeding & Swelling

The Solea laser's advanced technology cauterizes as it treats, resulting in minimal bleeding during and after the procedure. This reduced trauma leads to less swelling and discomfort compared to traditional methods, making the recovery process more comfortable for your little one.

Faster Healing

The precision and cauterizing effect of the Solea laser promotes rapid healing. Most infants can feed immediately after the procedure, and the treated area typically heals within days. The reduced recovery time means your child can return to normal feeding patterns more quickly.

So, my little guy came into the world with a stage 3 tongue tie and lip tie - yay, right? We got sent to a 'local' dentist after leaving the hospital, and let's just say the first place was a total disaster. BUT, we hit the jackpot with Songbird! This place is like the unicorn of doctor's offices. Everyone there makes you feel like you're part of the family, especially Dr. Barnes. She's like the superhero of patience with my tiny human, making sure his smile is on point for all his future selfies...They've got this vibe that makes you feel like you're the only one in the world...Walking in there is like being part of a big hug, thanks to Mandi at the front desk. I've lost count of how many times I've recommended this place. It's seriously the best out there!

Wow! What a great experience we had with Dr. Barnes and the staff. My daughter was a first time patient for a tongue tie evaluation. They fit her in quickly and did the procedure that day due to an opening. Dr. Barnes was so kind, thorough and just lovely. All the staff were very kind too. Oh and the office is so cute! Would make any child feel comfortable. Highly recommend.

Took our newborn in to have his lip and tongue ties evaluated. We ended up choosing to do the release and they did a great job at answering questions and making it as comfortable as possible for mom and baby. Will happily be recommending them to friends and family.”

Songbird Pediatric Dentistry is amazing!! My 3 month old daughter needed to have her tongue and lip clipped, and this place did an amazing job. They are very thorough and comforting. Every staff I interacted with was very sweet and kind, and they all had a smile on their face. They all were so positive!! They made sure we were comfortable with my daughters care before we left; then they checked in on us at night, and gave us their cell phone number in case we had questions or needed help throughout the night and weekends. The facility is extremely clean and adorable. The moment we walked in, we felt a sense of calmness. I am very happy I chose Songbird for my daughter’s care.
